A low-power X-ray spectrometer (5W) SPARK 1 for peat and environmental research

Results obtained with this low voltage X-ray spectrometer on sewage sludge, bottom sediments of lakes, fertilizer mixtures, pure moss peat and moss peat were in good agreement with results obtained by AA spectrophotometry with known addition method. In this experiment an alteration to the sample cuvette was made which enabled pressed samples to be used. The best diluting and binding agents for the samples were found to be teflon powder and potassium iodide.
