A method for non-destructive estimation of avocado fruit water potential

In the method described, a small section of the pedicel adjacent to the fruit was removed soon after picking. The xylem was excised, crushed onto a small filter paper disc and placed in an envelope of aluminium foil with a window cut in it to expose the filter paper.
