A method for studying the absorbing roots of trees

A method for studying the absorbing roots of trees

Root ecology and its practical application A contribution to the investigation of the whole plant: 81-94

The number of light-coloured root tips per unit of soil was used as a criterion for characterizing the spatial distribution of the absorbing parts of the root systems. As an example of the use of this method, results are given from investigations with apple trees in SW Germany.
