A method of characterising the damage caused by leaf-eating pests in lucerne stands

A method developed and tested in the German Democratic Republic for characterising the damage caused to lucerne by leaf-eating insects is described. Using the principle of abstract leaf blade division, the development of damage in lucerne fields was determined with adequate accuracy.
