Edaphic diplopods in the forest of Foljuif, Seine et Marne, France, were most abundant in the upper soil and litter layers. The mean annual density was 29 ind/m2 and mean annual biomass was 291 mg/m2. Immatures formed 40-50% of the population. The principal species were Glomeris marginata, Polydesmus angustus, Microchordeuma gallicum, Cylindroiulus nitidus, C. punctatus and Ommatocialus sabulosus. C. nitidus was the most abundant species, followed by G. marginata and C. punctatus.
