A mixed forest ecosystem. 7. Composition and phenology of the edaphic dipteran community

A mixed forest ecosystem. 7. Composition and phenology of the edaphic dipteran community

Revue d' Ecologie et de Biologie du Sol 19(2): 289-306

The emergence of adult Diptera was studied in two mixed forest plots (oak/hornbeam ; oak/pine) during 18 months. Cecidomyiidae, Chironomidae, Phoridae, Sciaridae and Empididae were the principal families of the 29 recorded. Differences between plots were generally absent, although Chironomidae were more numerous in the oak/pine plot than in the oak/hornbeam. Emergences showed seasonal variations, being most numerous overall in June/July, with a smaller peak in December.
