A model for sorption of water vapor by cellulosic materials

The sorption of water vapour by cellulosic materials is modelled with an exponential relationship between the Gibbs free energy change and e.m.c. The utility and simplicity of the model are illustrated with applications to several sets of sorption data in the literature. Adsorption and desorption isotherms generally are described with an accuracy of plus or minus 0.5% m.c. up to RH of about 90%. Effects of temp. and sorption hysteresis are examined briefly.
