A model for the computation of water requirement for level control of polder areas

A numerical model has been developed to compute with a timestep of ten days the water requirement for water level maintenance in some polder districts in the Netherlands. The study area has been split into squares of 25 ha with representative land use, soil type and hydrological characteristics. Using data on precipitation, global radiation and potential evapotranspiration, water requirements have been computed separately for each square and timestep and then added.
