A modified method for forecasting the occurrence of the second generation of the rice stem borer Chilo suppressalis Walker

The method used to forecast outbreaks of Chilo suppressalis (Wlk.) on rice in Zhejiang, China, was modified in 1979-81. The individuals with delayed development were discounted since they cause no damage to the 1st crop at the late maturing stage; the discounted borers represented 20-30% of the total numbers sampled.
