A monthly econometric model of the U.S. sheep industry

A monthly econometric model of the U.S. sheep industry

Agricultural Economics Research Report, Department of Agricultural Economics, University of Kentucky (37): 22

The paper develops a model of the US sheep industry based on monthly data for 1964-80 so that it can take into account short term fluctuations in production and consumption. The model consists of six equations: (1) the retail price for lamb; (2) the farm price for live lambs; (3) per caput consumption and demand for lamb; (4) the farm price of wool; (5) federally inspected slaughter of lambs; and, (6) total production of sheep and lambs.
