A new innovation for mini-dairies: long-time pasteurised milk in plastic bags

A new innovation for mini-dairies: long-time pasteurised milk in plastic bags

North European Dairy Journal 49(1): 18-21

A process for use on dairy farms involves pasteurizing milk filled in plastics sachets in a special holder pasteurizer provided with a water tank (capacity 500 l) using 12 wire crates holding 12 sachets each, containing a total of 144 l milk. Pasteurization is at 63 deg C for 30 min, the crates being then removed and placed in a cooling trough; the sachets stay in the crates throughout the distribution. The milk is packaged at the temp. at which it leaves the cow, thus saving energy.
