A new look at Libya

A new look at Libya

Marches Tropicaux et Mediterraneens 39(1958): 1243-55

This article on Libya includes an examination of the agricultural situation and of developments in viticulture. Agricultural development has been made possible in some areas due to the discovery of important underground water resources. Statistics on agricultural production and on cultivated area (1977/81) are provided, showing, for example, an increase in wheat production from 40 000 to 131 000 t. The main problems for agriculture are water and manpower shortages.
