A new microsporidian Nosema valamugili from the gut epithelium of an estuarine fish, Valamugil sp

N. valamugili n.sp. is described from the gut of Valamugil sp. from estuaries near Visakhapatnam and Bheemunipatnam, India. 2% of 250 fish examined during 1980-1981 were infected with small numbers (10-15) of cysts.
