A new process of asexual reproduction in Schistosoma haematobium

Study of the development of a strain of S. haematobium from Madagascar in Bulinus obtusispira revealed 2 new asexual processes: the existence of dimorphism in the secondary sporocysts, one large population localized mainly in the foot and giving rise to daughter sporocysts, and a smaller population localized mainly in the digestive gland, giving rise to cercariae; the absence of migration by some of the secondary sporocysts which develop in situ in the foot.
