A new route of prostaglandin F-2 alpha transfer from the uterus into the ovary in swine

A new route of prostaglandin F-2 alpha transfer from the uterus into the ovary in swine

Animal Reproduction Science 5(4): 303-309

On day 14 of the oestrous cycle in Polish Large White pigs, laparotomy under general anaesthesia was performed, and both ovaries with their ovarian pedicles and with part of the uterine horns were isolated using ligatures and excised as 2 independent units which were called A and B. They were placed in separate aluminium paper boxes on a heated surface (40 deg C). Preparation A was supplied with autologous arterial blood through the uterine and ovarian arteries.
