A note on physical and mechanical properties of Cinnamomum camphora (cinnamon) from New Forest, Dehra Dun (U.P.)

Tests were made on 2.5X2.5 cm specimens taken from 9 billets (1.8-3.05X0.5-0.8 m). Data is tabulated for green and kiln dried samples showing: density, m.c., hardness, and various strength properties (static and impact bending, compression parallel and perpendicular to grain, and shear parallel to grain). Strength values are lower than those for teak (presented for comparison), and observed values were higher than those estimated from formulae for density/strength relations.
