A note on th incidence of okra petiole maggot, Melanagromyza hibisci Spencer with a first record of its natural enemies

Indian Journal of Entomologyrecd 1983; 43(4): 448-450

During observations carried out in Madhya Pradesh, India, in August 1976 and April 1977, larvae of Melanagromyza hibisci Spencer were observed infesting young okra plants. Each infested pedicel contained 1-3 larvae. Larvae and pupae were found mainly at the base of the pedicel joining the stem in dissected pedicels. The pupal period lasted 6-11 days. Parasitism of pupae by Eurytoma sp. and Eucoilidea sp. ranged from 14.28 to 31.25% between September and November.
