A protozoan disease of encapsulated embryos of the sea hare (Aplysia californica)

Invertebrate pathology and microbial control Proceedings of the III International Colloquium on invertebrate pathology, and XV Annual Meeting of the Society of Invertebrate Pathology, 6-10 September 1982, University of Sussex, Brighton, UK: 277-279
A protozoan disease of encapsulated embryos of the sea hare (Aplysia californica)
A protozoan disease affecting embryos of A. californica maintained in laboratory cultures is described. On the basis of morphology, euglenoid motility and life-cycle, the organism responsible is thought to be a phytomastigophoran parasite. If infection occurs early (3 days after the egg mass is laid) embryonic mortality is high and may reach 100% on the 6th day of infection.
