A rapid method for the analysis of alimentary fiber

A rapid method for the determination of the different constituents of alimentary fiber was developed as a preliminary work for the study of different diets suitable for obese patients. This method is a modification of Van Soest's method. It is accurate and reproducible when applied to different kinds of vegetables, legumes and fruits. Necessary requisite of the analytical method is simplicity and rapidity because the wide variability of alimentary fiber content in vegetable products makes it necessary to carry out analyses on a great number of different samples.
