Acquired resistance to tobacco mosaic virus transmitted to the progeny of hypersensitive tobacco

Acquired resistance to tobacco mosaic virus transmitted to the progeny of hypersensitive tobacco

Virology 124(1): 161-163

The resistance was induced in Samsun NN tobacco with a series of 5 induction TMV inoculations at 2-wk intervals. Selfed progeny were challenge inoculated with TMV. Lesion diams. in the progeny of induction-inoculated plants were c. 2/3 those in the progeny of noninoculated controls. Thus, systemic acquired resistance was seed-transmitted.
