Agricultural efficiency from a general economic point of view

Ekonomika Sel' skogo Khozyaistva (4): 54-62

An analysis of criteria used in USSR literature and statistics for measuring economic efficiency leads to the conclusion that only measurements based on 'production of socially necessary commodities' or 'growth in productivity' produce significant results. If one applies these criteria, the basic trend in physical production was one of rapid growth in the period 1966-70 and of comparatively slow growth in the period 1971-80.
