Stand measurements are presented for a 19-yr-old plantation established in 1957 on a sloping site at 140 m alt. in Hokkaido. The species were originally planted at spacings of 1 and 1.5 m (spruce) and 1, 1.5 and 2 m (fir). Estimates are given of aboveground biomass and annual increment rates (t/ha) for stems, branches and leaves of each species.
