Drought resistance in crops with emphasis on rice: 273-292

Genetic variation is reported to exist in the following drought resistance factors: (1) rooting systems, (2) resistance to transpiration and (3) use of stem carbohydrates for grain filling. Varietal differences in yield are also reported in drought-stressed variety trials.
