The progesterone content of milk from 6 Saanen goats was lowest at oestrus, 0.83 plus or minus 0.28 ng/ml, increased from day 5 after oestrus to peak at day 11-17 at 12.6-34.2 ng/ml, and then declined to reach 0.4-8.9 ng/ml on the day before oestrus (mean 2.4 plus or minus 3.3 ng/ml).
