Changes in the structures of vegetation and soil of pastures established by different methods after deciduous broadleaved forest in Japan

, : Changes in the structures of vegetation and soil of pastures established by different methods after deciduous broadleaved forest in Japan. Bulletin of the National Grassland Research Institute (23): 97-114

After clearing forest, mixtures of cocksfoot, perennial ryegrass, timothy, red clover and white clover were sown in early autumn 1975 with broadcast fertilizer with or without discing and from the following spring were grazed rotationally and given 170 kg N + 110 kg P2O5 + 170 kg K2O/ha annually. Establishment was good with both treatments and the number of grass seedlings was similar, but the number of legume seedlings without discing was c. 25% of the number with discing.
