60 infants under 1 yr of age suffering from atopic dermatitis or exudative diathesis were studied. Sensitization to food antigens was studied by passive haemagglutination using formolized ovine erythrocytes sensitized to whole egg protein, bovine serum albumin, or cows' milk casein, alpha -lactalbumin or beta -lactoglobulin. Most of the infants showed polyvalent sensitization to the antigens tested, extent of sensitization increasing with severity of symptoms.
