In Moscow, USSR, 98 patients were treated for Strongyloides infection; of these only 12 had travelled outside the temperate zone of the country and 56 had never left the Moscow region. In 78 cases the diagnosis had been delayed by 3 to 20 years. In 4 cases, given as an example, the acute phase was diagnosed as acute dysentery, viral hepatitis, upper respiratory catarrhal infection and measles. The case of a 12-year-old boy is reported: he was treated for recurrent bronchopneumonia from 1974.
