Ascaris antigens at a dose of 0.1 mg/kg body-weight intravenously increased the sensitivity of dogs to subsequent (in 5, 15 or 30 min) injections of adrenaline. Hypotension led to the development of necrosis, haemorrhages, extravasation of erythrocytes and accumulation of haemosiderin. The dermis was infiltrated by leukocytes with segmented nuclei. Intravenous injection of Ascaris lipopolysaccharides caused a typical febrile reaction in rabbits, the rectal temperature rising from 38.4 to 39.5 deg C.
