Characterization of barley resistance to barley stripe mosaic virus

, : Characterization of barley resistance to barley stripe mosaic virus. Archiv fur Phytopathologie und Pflanzenschutz 19(3): 149-159

A simplified radial immunodiffusion technique (RIDT) showed good agreement between appearance of symptoms on barley plants and presence of BSMV. Virus conc. rose in newly developing leaves and was lowest in inoculated leaves. It was higher in susceptible genotypes with high disease indices (DI) than in those with moderate resistance. The reaction type of the BSMV-barley combination is classified as resistance to infection.
