Chemical and insecticidal inducton of abortion in Glossina palpalis R.-D

, : Chemical and insecticidal inducton of abortion in Glossina palpalis R.-D. Sixteenth Meeting, International Scientific Council for Trypanosomiasis Research and Control, Yaounde Cameroun 1979: 522-529

Various laboratory chemicals and several insecticides were applied topically in acetone at doses of 0.4 and 0.8 mu l to adult females of Glossina palpalis (R.-D.) in the laboratory in Nigeria. Most or all of the flies were found to be inseminated. The laboratory chemicals (in acetone) caused 0-9.7% abortion, as compared with 2.8-8.2% for acetone alone.
