Chemical composition of silage prepared from the fibrous residue left after leaf protein extraction from lucerne and the sugarcane tops

, : Chemical composition of silage prepared from the fibrous residue left after leaf protein extraction from lucerne and the sugarcane tops. Indian Botanical Reporter 1(2): 107-109

Ensiling of fibrous residue left after protein extraction from lucerne showed a rapid drop in pH from 5.6 to 4.6 during silage fermentation. Addition of sugarcane tops to fibrous residue increased the level of water soluble reducing sugars in the mixture and improved fermentation characteristics showing more rapid drop in pH to 3.8.
