Chemical composition of the testing spore wall of Plasmodiophora brassicae

, : Chemical composition of the testing spore wall of Plasmodiophora brassicae. Transactions of the British Mycological Society 80(2): 297-304

Walls of the resting spores isolated mechanically from homogenized root galls of rape were quantitatively analysed for their major components. At least 88% of the spore wall dry wt. was accounted for and shown to comprise 25.1% chitin, more than or equal to 2.5% other carbohydrates, 33.6% protein and more than or equal to 17.5% lipid, while residual ash was equivalent to 10.5% of the total wt.; chitosan and cellulose were absent from the walls.
