In a field trial in 1975-6 at Gomecello, wheat Pane was given 0, 11, 22 or 33 kg N/ha as ammonium calcium nitrate at sowing and 0 or 22, 44 or 66 kg N on 27 Feb. or 22 March. The aerial parts were sampled at full tillering, spikelet differentiation, preanthesis and grain filling. In order of significance N, Mn, K, Mg and Fe were involved in the leaf:straw ratio and Mg and P in the leaf:grain ratio. Ca and Mg contents in the early leaf stage were related to grain wt.
