Chemical variation in Eurasian populations of Hippophae rhamnoides revealed by two-dimensional thin-layer chromatography
Extracts prepared from tops of young seedlings were analysed. The 20 progenies studied represented 18 different populations in the Eurasian range of the species and belonged to 6 subspecies. The most deviating subspecies was ssp. rhamnoides. Ssp. sinensis and to some extent ssp. fluviatilis also showed distinctive chemical features.
