Citrus interstock-scion combinations and topworking procedures in the Wakayama region of Japan

Compatibility between interstock and scion was examined in 11 scions/4 interstock combinations. Satsuma and Sanbokan (a local variety) generally showed favourable interstock behaviour. However, Natsudaidai scion shoots often died back at the graft union and special grafting methods were developed to prevent this. The effects of topworking on the growth and yield of the 11 scion cvs were also determined.
