In a laboratory study in the German Federal Republic, the population development of Amblyseius channabasavanni Gupta & Daniel, a predacious mite from India, was compared with that of Phytoseiulus persimilis Athias-Henriot, which is used in biological control programmes. The duration of the life-cycle of both species when supplied with sufficient prey (Tetranychus urticae Koch) was 4 weeks.
