Control of flowering in cocksfoot (Dactylis glomerata L.). VI. Influence of temperature and day length on floral induction in aged plant

Control of flowering in cocksfoot (Dactylis glomerata L.). VI. Influence of temperature and day length on floral induction in aged plant

Journal of Japanese Society of Grassland Science 28(2): 182-187

Aged tillers from four varieties were subjected to a range of temperatures and natural daylength for five weeks and then brought to heading at 25/15 deg C (day/night) in continuous light. Flowering occurred in plants subjected to 5.3-15.8 deg C in Aberystwyth S143, 5.3-19 deg C in Aonami and Latar and 5.3-22.9 deg C in EV700. The periods required for floral induction under long days and high temperatures were similar to those under short days and low temperatures.
