Effect of nitrogen fertilizer regime on pasture yield and composition and milk production from annual clover pasture oversown into tropical pasture

Irrigated Cynodon dactylon was oversown in April (autumn) with Trifolium subterraneum Clare and T. repens Ladino and divided into 8 paddocks grazed by 4 groups of 12 cows at 7/ha using a 6-wk rotation. Treatments were (i) no fertilizer, or N in (ii) autumn only (total 168 kg/ha), (iii) autumn and winter (336 kg/ha) or (iv) autumn, winter and spring (504 kg/ha).
