Effect of water stress and change of soil temperature on apparent photosynthesis of todo-fir (Abies sachalinensis Mast.) and akaezo-spruce (Picea glehnii Mast.) seedlings

The relation between xylem pressure potential (P) and apparent photosynthesis (AP) was studied by reducing soil m.c. monthly from June to Oct. The effect on AP of soil temp. between 1 deg C and 45 deg C and of freezing was also studied, mainly in fir. The boundary lines of the relation between P and AP changed monthly as needles matured.
