Of various anion exchange resins, DEAE-Sephadex was best for immobilization of Curvularia inaequalis beta -D-galactosidase, 50-70% of enzyme activity (70-380 U/g) being retained. Using aminosilicates, activity was 60-80 U/g. Under continuous operation at 45 deg C and using 5% lactose, beta -D-galactosidase immobilized on DEAE-Sephadex had activity half-life of 36 days.
