In this review, factors affecting germination of temperate orchids are briefly discussed as are nutritional requirements of the protocorms. There is a brief survey of results obtained by various workers on individual orchids (Dactylorhiza sp., Ophrys apifera, Leucorchis albida and several Orchis spp.).
