Hazelnut meal as a substitute for soya bean oilmeal in diets for broiler chickens

From 1 day until 8 weeks old 200 Hubbard broiler chickens were fed to appetite on diets without hazelnut meal or with 5, 10 or 15%, replacing soya bean oilmeal. Crude protein (%) and metabolizable energy (kcal/kg), 4 groups in order as above, were 21.94, 2907; 22.49, 2955; 22.41, 2940; and 22.32, 2925 respectively. Bodyweight at the end of the experimental period was 1888, 1837, 1717 and 1415 g. Feed intake/kg gain was 2.38, 2.57, 2.37 and 2.32 kg.
