High yielding cows in the USSR

High yielding cows in the USSR

Zhivotnovodstvo (1): 37-39

Data are tabulated on the milk yield, fat percentage and body weight of 212 high-yielding cows of 12 Russian breeds. A group of 21 Kostroma cows had the highest av. milk yield (11 904 kg; range 10 113 to 14 203). The yields for the other breed groups ranged from 10 007 kg for a single Bestuzhev cow to an average of 11 123 kg for 34 Ural Black Pieds.
