The effect of large doses of vitamin E by mouth (30 IU alpha -tocopheryl acetate/kg bodyweight daily; 2000 to 2400 IU daily) was evaluated in 3 men with well-characterized mutant forms of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase accompanied by rapid chronic haemolysis.
