High-energy parenteral nutrition with a complete solution in the period after operations

High-energy parenteral nutrition with a complete solution in the period after operations

Infusionstherapie und Klinische Ernahrung Forschung und Praxis 9(1): 5-14

For 6 days after major abdominal, thoracic or vascular surgery, 18 metabolically stable adults without previous nutritional deficiency had by continuous 24-h infusion into central venous catheter Combiplasmal containing amino acids 35 and carbohydrate, as equal parts of glucose, sorbitol and xylitol, 210 g/litre, also electrolytes to cover basal requirements. Ringer solution was supplied and 8 received blood or albumin. Blood or serum and urine indices were monitored daily.
