High-quality protein maize with normal genotype: results after eight generations of selection

High-quality protein maize with normal genotype: results after eight generations of selection

Maize Genetics Cooperation News Letter (57): 75-77

A floury-a line of high protein quality (HQPfl-a) was crossed with the red flint lines OU and DY. Normal (flint) S2 plants of OU and DY lineage were crossed and then selfed. Selection was based on endosperm tryptophan content up to the S3 and on lysine content from the S4 to the S8.
