High-temperature interaction in the calcium orthophosphate-calcium metaphosphate system

Mendeleev Chemistry Journal 23(6): 7-8

The high-temperature interaction of calcium orthophosphate and calcium metaphosphate was studied. These compounds have great importance in the chemistry and technology of phosphorus and phosphorus fertilizers. The reaction of interest for these studies is Ca3(PO4)2 + Ca(PO3)2 'double arrow' 2Ca2P2O7 The compounds used were Ca3(PO4)2 roasted at 1200 deg C for 8 hr and Ca(PO3)2 produced from Ca(H2PO4)2 by successive dehydration to constant wt at 250, 400, and 750 deg C.
