For 5 male and 5 female Landes geese, the pectoral muscle fibre diameter averaged 22.6 and 18.1 mu m resp. at 28 days of age (red fibres only), 45.8 and 35.4 mu m (red) and 59.2 and 61.0 mu m (white) at 56 days, and 46.3 and 44.5 mu m (red) and 66.9 and 62.2 mu m (white) at 84 days.
