Histochemical evidence for localised cell-mediated immunity in the ovine nasopharynx

Histochemical evidence for localised cell-mediated immunity in the ovine nasopharynx

Irish Veterinary Journal 37(2): 39-42

The changes in ovine lymphoid cell populations in response to intranasal stimulation with parainfluenza-3 virus were monitored using alpha-naphthyl-acetate esterase strain. A highly significant increase in esterase-positive cells occurred in local nasopharyngeal lymphoid tissue independent of any significant systemic response.
