Histopathological investigations of skin biopsies. Possibilities and limits

Histological study of 360 dog and cat skin biopsy samples submitted for examination between January and December 1981 revealed in 171 cases inflammatory lesions of the skin and/or adjacent tissues with predominance of pyodermamycoses, acute allergic dermatitis, systemic mycoses and dermatomycoses together with a few cases of lupus erythematosus, leishmaniasis and Sarcoptes and Demodex infestations, and 33 cases of nonspecific chronic processes.
